During the 2020 presidential election in Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko usurped power.
Hunderds of thousands of Belarusians took to the streets to protest against falcifications and then violence against peaceful demonstrators.

Lukashenko suppressed the uprising with the help of the armed forces, including Putin’s media and military support from Kremlin.

The Belarusians were not break. Several thousand citizens were illegally arrested, tens of thousands were forced to flee the country to escape persecution.
Every day dozens of people are arrested in Belarus.

In 2022, Lukashenko supported Putin's invasion of Ukraine, but the war is opposed by ordinary Belarusians.

About 450 belarusians are fighting in Ukraine against Russia today.
According to opinion polls, more than 70% of Belarusians oppose the war.
